I took part in the Cornwall Corporate Games recently that was held in Newquay. I must admit that when I heard about it I wondered how it was going to work in Cornwall where the majority of businesses are SME’s but they gave it a shot.
For a first year the turn out wasn’t too bad, a little dissapointing but I think that with the current economic doom and gloom that the £34 a head entry fee may well have put people off! Although you could then enter your teams into any of the sports available.
Personally I’d recommend considering it next year, I for one would like to see some different forms of networking and there is nothin like a bit of competition between businesses to get the atmosphere going.
Maybe next year, if it happens, the organisers may consider a more central location, Newquay isn’t the easiest of places to get too! Truro would have been better I reckon, my opinion only and possibly a bit selfsih… ok I take it back.
The people that were there over the weekend, marshalling and umpiring were great! and aside from the rather embarrassing medal ceremony, where we had to stand on a poduim in a really small room and listen to the CG anthem (ouch!) it was a good laugh.
